Pee Wee Herman Storms Network Marketing!

Featured

Pee Wee Herman could quite possibly be the second most annoying character on the planet! So, who’s the first most annoying character you ask? IT MIGHT BE YOU! The aspiring Network Marketer. Now, unless you have been living under a rock or just started internet marketing yesterday, you should be familiar with the concept of Attraction Marketing.I could see the bobble heads swaying away “yes, yes, everyone knows about attraction marketing”. So, here is the million dollar question, “Have you heard of Pee Wee Herman Marketing?” Yes, you read it right. Pee Wee Herman Marketing is the most popular form of marketing on the planet! It’s all over Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and even use by people that are face to face network marketing.

I’ll break it down for you. Here is the basic concept behind Pee Wee Marketing. People want to join your business and buy your products, they just don’t know it yet. So there are two rules: 1) Your job is throw your business opportunity and products in their faces so fast and so many times that they have no option but to join or buy; 2) Never ask anyone for their name and if anyone asks you anything personal just respond with a link to your replicated website! That’s it, simple and easy, right?

Sound ridiculous? Then why are 90% of social media marketers doing this? I call this Pee-Wee Herman Marketing because it is completely annoying! My guess is that the majority of these marketers have more desire than knowledge… I’m being optimistic here. So, if you have more desire than knowledge let me share 3 CRITICAL concepts that you MUST understand if you are going to have any success marketing your business online.

1. No One Cares About Your Opportunity. You are not selling a business, a product or even an opportunity because no one cares about these things. You are selling a solution to their problems. Perry Marshall, the legendary Google AdWords Authority, basically sums up this concept with one quote, “Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill. They wanted a hole. Therefore, if you want to sell drills, you should advertise information about making holes – NOT information about drills!” – I hope you understand this.

2. People do not join a business, they join people. Your income will be directly related to the value that you have to offer. Everyone is looking for a leader that can take them home to the promise land of financial freedom. If you expect to have any success in consistently sponsoring people into your business you MUST have something to offer that people value. You might be a great speaker, an excellent closer, great at generating Facebook leads, have a huge Twitter following, a PPC wizard, a great blogger, an inspirational writer or just know more than the person you are speaking with. Any one of more of these factors can help to position you as an authority or leader in the eyes of your prospect. If people see value in working with you… then you are on your way to actually building a business.

3. Treat Your Business Like A Business. If you want to actually make money in network marketing, you have to dedicate real time and effort into building your business. You must be willing to work on growing your business for a minimum of 6 months to 1 year. You have to invest in your knowledge to develop yourself into the leader you need to be. You must invest your time in actually talking to prospects, practicing your marketing techniques, networking with people, placing your advertisements, learning from seasoned marketers, etc… This business WILL take time. I’m sorry to break it to you but there is no real shortcut. Finally, yes, you will have to spend money, your business is a long term investment not get rich quick scheme. Now, thankfully internet marketing allows you to leverage very effective FREE marketing strategies, so most of the money you spend may actually come from your profits but you need to expect to spend money to actually build your business.

Of course this is a very very condensed and over simplified version of these fundamental concepts. Relax! A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Prospects

Featured

Social media has changed Internet marketing forever! Today I want to take a few minutes to talk about profile pictures. Last week I had a quick conversation with one of my downline business partners about Facebook Marketing. She had spent about 2 hours trying to decide what picture to use for her profile image and called me for some advice. Now, first of all, spending 2 hours on a profile pictures is a great way to waste your time and keep you from actually growing your business (but we can talk about busy work later). It is always interesting to me to see how people choose to represent themselves. So I wanted to share 5 quick tips to remember when picking a profile picture.

1. Relax! and be yourself. Look at the picture of our friend on the left. He’s clean, professional and laser focused. The only problem with this picture is that we are marketing a HOME BASED business! I don’t know about you, but when I market from home, my patio or sitting on my couch … I really don’t plan on wearing a suit and tie, as I’m sure most of us would not! So be REAL. Wear what you normally wear. Be clean, wrinkle free, and decent. You want people to know who they are really working with. Don’t dress up, don’t dress down, be you.

2. SMILE :) Smile in your pictures, have fun, enjoy who you are and LOVE WHAT YOU DO. Let’s look back at our friend’s picture again (above, left). If I had to take a guess, I would probably say he’s struggling in network marketing, just missed a few credit card payments and took this picture at 6:30am, right before he left to work. That’s not the guy I really want to lead me to success. No one wants to ride in the car with flat tires, so SMILE … regardless of how many teeth you have!

3.  Use YOUR picture, No Icons. Your picture should be of you. I don’t know how many people really want to work with the “snarling bulldog” guy or with the “Cute baby picture” woman. Show people who you are, this helps to build confidence with your potential business partners. If you use an icon or picture image many people will feel that you are hiding behind your computer. People want to work with and follow people, not cool images.

4. NEVER post your MLM Logo. Using your logo next to or in place of your picture is a great way to come off like a salesperson and drive away tons of potential valuable relationships. If you want to have a job for the rest of your life … do this. For the rest of us who are serious about networking with others re-read tip #3.

5. Keep the picture “up-to-date”. Any picture you use should be within the last few years or should “reasonably” represent you. Don’t use a 1980′s magazine cover shot or you college photo if you are class of 1989. Keep your picture current and honest.

These guidelines are not rocket science, just simple basic rules to follow. Remember: First impressions are everything and in our world, a picture can be worth a thousand prospects!
